List of Oil Refineries in India

Do you know where the petrol or diesel for your vehicles or the gas that you use to cook your food comes from? If yes then great, if no, then allow me to tell you. The lubricant oils and greases for the machines, the CNG, Petrol, Diesel, for vehicles, and the LPG for your cylinders all come from the oil refineries. Oil refineries are industrial plants that transform or refine crude oil into various usable petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline, and heating oils.

The first refinery in India was established in 1893, near Digboi, Assam. Presently India has 18 public sector refineries and five refineries in the private sector/or as a joint venture. RIL Jamnagar (Gujarat), NEL Vadinar (Gujarat) and IOC Panipat (Haryana) are the largest petroleum refineries in India.
